There is a lot of work being done on the new Android P and Google is about ready to uncover all the secrets of it. The new version of Android is going to be revealed at Google’s I/O Conference during the second half of the year. Before the conference, however, there is going to be a preview for developers in order to get a sneak peak before the public sees it.

The Android P is supposed to be putting more focus on their security features for the device. One of the main features which has been discussed heavily is that they are going to be locking down the apps that run in the background. This will ensure that no apps in the back will be able to access your device’s sensors. Things such as your phone’s camera will only be able to get accessed by programs running within the foreground. There have also been some advanced options for screen calling which have been ultimately highlighted using some simple code snippets that are already available.

There are numerous manufacturers that are looking to put into use similar designs to Apple’s notch featured on the newest iPhone X. According to Forbes, this new version of Android is going to accommodate similar tweaks to the screen’s displays in order to offer better handling of the “cut out” areas. There are also some expectations about there being a “dark mode” being build into the code as well. This is a popular feature which can help to significantly save on battery power for OLED screen displays. However, it was confirmed that this option will most likely only be for the engineering teams to use as a “toggle” to test in their own apps while also testing dark modes.

While that option is being tested further, there is going to be a developer-facing setting added via the Developer Options. It will toggle the night UI mode qualifier. This qualifier is going to make it much easier for any developers to be able to create and then test apps which implement a night-mode.
