The growth in commerce by the Alibaba group has placed the company in the third position among IaaS member groups in the 2016/2017 fiscal year recording a whopping 127% growth as per a report generated in September of this year. The market revenue from cloud computing is expected to plummet to about 426.2 billion worldwide by the end of the current financial year.
At the heart of the online and E-commerce business operations at Alibaba group is the cloud computing technology. For instance, in the 2017 global shopping festival, cloud computing at Alibaba could process a maximum of 325,000 transactions per second. The giant in the E-commerce industry is focusing on advanced technology applications and research. The technologies that are on Alibaba’s list include Internet of things (IoT), machine learning, virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
These technological developments are expected to further boost Alibaba cloud with a competitive advantage in the provision of products and services. The company group committed to a global research program in 2015 that was funded to the tune of $15 billion. Over the next couple of years, the DAMO Academy started by Alibaba group is expected to open seven labs around the world for research and development.
