The Google Chrome web browser is a popular alternative among both Mac and PC users. It is available as a free download through Google’s website. Chrome supports a variety of foreign languages and allows users to quickly switch between which one they want to use. If desired, Chrome can also be set up to display all application menus in a secondary language.
Step 1:
Launch the Google Chrome application on your Mac or PC computer.
Step 2:
Click on the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner of the Chrome window and choose “Settings.” This will open a new tab in your current window with a list of setting categories.
Step 3:
Click on the “Advanced” link at the bottom of the settings list to view all categories.
Step 4:
Click on the down arrow next to the “Language” setting, which appears just above the options for spell-check. The settings panel will expand to display a list of all foreign languages you have configured in your browser.
Step 5:
Click on the “Add languages” button to set up a new language option. A pop-up menu will appear with a list of all languages supported in Chrome.
Step 6:
Use the search box at the top of the menu to find the desired language. You can check the box next to one or more languages and then click the “Add” button to move them into your Chrome language list.
Step 7:
Click on the three-dot icon next to the desired language and choose the “Move to the top” option. New tabs will now automatically display their text in this new selected language.
Step 8:
Click on the three-dot icon again and check the box next to “Display Google Chrome in this language” if you want all Chrome menus to be translated into the selected language.
Whenever Chrome recognizes foreign language text while browsing the web, the application will automatically ask if you want to translate the page and add it to your list of language settings. For more information on Chrome’s foreign language support, consult the Google support site.
