It seems that smartphones are able to do almost anything. Using a smartphone, you’re able to do everything from playing games to staying in touch with people you know. That being said, these conveniences often make people forget how much time they’re using their phones. Considering that, Android recently launched a new feature designed to help monitor how much time you’re spending on your smartphone.
A Brief History of This Important Tool
This feature was first discussed as Android 9 Pie was nearing its release date. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite ready in time for the launch of this new update. This new feature, known as Digital Wellbeing, was first made available on Pixel devices. That being said, this was only a beta version. This tool is now available for anyone able to download the Android 9 Pie update.
Digital Wellbeing’s Helpful Features
The Sunday Express reports that 70% of those surveyed in a Google poll wanted more help tracking the time they spend on their mobile devices. You’ll be able to learn quite a bit about your smartphone habits with the help of Digital Wellbeing. This tool tracks the amount of time you spend on each mobile application. In addition, Digital Wellbeing even tracks how many times you unlock your smartphone.
Setting Time Limits and Getting More Sleep
Digital Wellbeing doesn’t only track how much time you spend using your phone. This tool also allows you to set time limits for each of your smartphone applications. In addition, this tool also features a Do Not Disturb feature which will eliminate any visual pop-ups from appearing on your device. Digital Wellbeing also includes a Wind Down feature, fading your screen’s backlight gradually. This specific feature aims to help people stop spending time on their phones before it’s time for bed.
To summarize, Android users are now able to enjoy a helpful feature known as Digital Wellbeing. The main purpose of this new tool is to help smartphone users track how much time they’re spending on these devices. Currently, Digital Wellbeing is available as a full release for all devices capable of running Google Pixel and Android One hardware.
