The most anticipated streaming service got off to a great start. Disney+ was so popular with people in the United States that 10 million people signed up and tried to log on when the service went online. As you might imagine, that much traffic going to the same place at the same time is going to cause problems. This is exactly what happened to the Disney network. It could not handle all of the traffic for people who wanted to watch Disney+. Therefore, the system crashed again and again. There were many people who were simply not able to log into their accounts.

According to The Verge,  these technical issues were resolved in the following days. However, it points out that Disney was not prepared at all for the millions of people who would want to use their service. There were many people who complained that a company as big as Disney should have expected such a huge demand and taken steps to avoid any problems. However, there are experts who have defended Disney. People who follow the streaming industry very closely have said that they only thought that eight million people would sign up to Disney+ by the end of 2019. It shocked many people that 10 million joined on the launch day.

Subscribers to Disney+ also reported some other problems that were not related to the high volume of traffic on the first day. For example, people often pause movies when they are in the middle of watching them. There is a button on Disney+ that allows people to start watching the movie again. The problem is that the movie does not pick up right where the person stopped it. This frustrated many people. A person involved with Disney+ said that problem has to do with the way that the app was coded. Therefore, all new coding will be required. The new and improved version that contains the new coding and fixes to all of the glitches will be coming out within the next few weeks.

Overall, the people at Disney are happy with how things have gone so far. It is true that the first day was quite problematic. However, they have managed to fix many of the issues that the service was suffering from. Disney+ uses the same technology that HBO Go uses. Therefore, Disney felt confident that it would be able to handle the massive demand like it did for “Game of Thrones.” It seems they were wrong.
