Several governors and mayors say they need more personal protective equipment, as well as ventilators and other medical equipment to treat coronavirus patients. President Trump told the governors it’s not his fault they need more equipment. Trump said the governors’ slow response to the virus is the issue.

But new facts continue to surface about Trump’s initial reaction to the COVID-19 outbreak in China. Mr. Trump fired Dr. Linda Quick, a medical epidemiologist who worked with China’s disease control agency Dr. Quick’s job was to train Chinese field epidemiologists. The job of Chinese field epidemiologists is to travel to the epicenter of a major virus outbreak and investigate, track, and try to control the spread of the virus.

Dr. Quick was the U.S. point person in case a major epidemic developed in China, but the Trump administration fired her in July. Signs of the coronavirus outbreak surfaced in Wuhan in November. Dr. Quick’s job was to alert the U.S. about the outbreak months before Trump reacted, but that didn’t happen, according to Reuters.

Mr. Trump did get an intelligence report in January that emphasized the rapid spread of the virus in China, but the president called it a hoax. Trump blamed the Democrats for the fake news about the virus. President Trump refused to acknowledge the health threat until Washington state and a cruise ship with American coronavirus patients on board forced him to act, according to the New York Times.

Economists started to use the word depression after the tied emergency stimulus vote. Four Republican senators didn’t vote due to self-isolation and Senator Rand Paul’s coronavirus announcement. Democrats think the Republicans put too much emphasis on helping big corporations at the expense of the American workers who are out of work.
