The Apple Maps application, which is pre-installed on all iPhone devices, includes a feature for tracking your parked car’s location. This functionality is only available for iPhone users who connect their device to their car through the Apple CarPlay system. Once set up, users can see their parked car’s GPS coordinates on a map and even receive walking directions back to its location. The car location is stored each time that you disconnect your iPhone from the car or else turn off the car’s engine while the device is connected.

Step 1:

Launch the “Settings” application on your iPhone.

Step 2:

Go to the “Maps” section of the iPhone settings list.

Step 3:

Scroll down to the “Your Car” section of the screen and move the slider next to “Show Parked Location” to the green “On” position. You can turn this option off at any time.

Step 4:

Connect your iPhone to your car using a USB cable or a Bluetooth connection. This should automatically activate the CarPlay link. If the link does not occur, go to the “CarPlay” section in the iPhone’s settings list.

Step 5:

Disconnect your iPhone from your car’s USB or Bluetooth connection. Alternatively, you can shut off your car’s engine to automatically capture the current location of your parked car.

Step 6:

Launch the “Maps” application from your iPhone’s homescreen.

Step 7:

Scroll down through the list of recent locations until you see the “Parked Car” item. Click on it to see your car’s exact GPS coordinates and receive walking directions to it.

If you encounter any issues when trying to locate your parked car with Apple Maps, ensure that your location settings are not blocking this service. These settings can be adjusted in the “Privacy” section of the iPhone’s setting list. More information is available from the Apple knowledge base.
