On Saturday, news arrived that the OnePlus 6 series would get its first open beta for Android 10. The news arrives after OnePlus already sent the Android 10-based Oxygen OS 10 updates for OnePlus 7 series phones.
According to Notebookcheck.net’s report, OnePlus is the first OEM to begin sending Android 10 to last-get devices. The only exceptions they mention are Essential Phone and Google. However, the news on the OnePlus Forum proved to be exciting for many OnePlus 6 series mobile phones.
Reportedly, the beta Android 10 Oxygen OS update can be downloaded manually or through the Update App. It’s said to be 1.7 gigabytes in size and won’t cause users who install it to lose any data. However, there are some bugs being reported such as skipped frames, WiFi issues, or “non-functional Google Pay.” Most people are expecting a more stable version of the Android 10-based Oxygen OS to come prior to the end of 2019.
The Android 10 mobile operating system originally released on September 3, 2019. Among its key features was the new “full-screen gesture system.” This allowed users to perform different swipes on the screen to activate Google Assistant, get to the home screen, or switch apps, among other activities. In addition, it included privacy and security updates as well as specific optimizations for foldable smartphones.
With Android 10, users will also have more customization settings or options than before. That includes customization on the lock screen as well as on system along with three preset themes, WCCFTech reported. Other new Android 10 features include Smart Replies, Game Space and Smart Display.
To get the OxygenOS Android 10 Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus 6 or 6T phones, mobile users should go to the OnePlus Forum here. Links are available to download the beta, but it’s only available for unlocked Non Carrier variants of the OnePlus 6/6T phones.
