Uber recently announced that it will be releasing a new feature that will allow people to directly call 911 from the app. The feature is now available in the United States. People will be able to find the feature in the safety center. People will be able to get in touch with emergency responders with the click of a button.

The safety center also has insurance protections, driver screening process and community guidelines. The community guideline behavior that will get you banned from Uber. All one has to do to get in touch with emergency services is go the safety center and tap 911 assistance.


People will be asked to confirm that they need emergency services before personnel is sent out. This was put in place to prevent people from accidentally dialing 911. The feature was tested in China before it debuted in America.

The feature will also allow the rider’s location to automatically be sent out when they contact 911. The safety feature is geared towards riders. However, drivers can also benefit from using this app. There have been many cases where a passenger got in a vehicle and acted belligerent.

Sachin Kansal is the director of Uber. He stated that he hopes that this panic button will deter both riders and passengers from behaving badly. Many criminal activity occurs because people think that they are not being watched. Sachin wants people to know that Uber has their lights turned on. He stated that a big part of turning the lights on is letting people know that this safety feature exists.

Uber has been making a lot of changes to improve rider experience. Dara Khosrowaski is the CEO of Uber. She stated that this new panic feature is just one of the many changes that Uber will be making.
