The news Boris Johnson wants to build a bridge between Scotland and Britain made the British press happy. One bridge-building expert said building a bridge to Scotland was like building a bridge to the moon. In other words, spending $20 billion to try to build a Scotland bridge was out of the question.

Britain’s economic growth keeps eroding thanks to Brexit as well as the tariff war Trump wages with the rest of the world. Mr. Johnson let Trump know he holds him responsible for some of Britain’s economic erosion and for slamming the phone in his ear. Boris tried to explain his decision to use Huawei’s 5G technology to build Britain’s 5G cellular network to Trump, but the president lost his cool.

Boris was a Trump supporter before he became prime minister. But Boris realized the folly in that support during the G20 summit. Mr. Trump threatened to add a tariff to all vehicles built in Europe during the summit. He also told the French he would add a 100% tariff on all products made in France unless Macron dropped the profit tax he planned to enforce. Macron wanted to tax American companies who make money in France.

Attorney General Bill Barr wants to crack down on sanctuary cities and states by suing them. Mr. Barr claims sanctuary states and cities violate federal immigration laws. And he plans to enforce those laws through the courts. New Jersey is Barr’s first target, but other states and cities will also have to fight in court to protect immigrants from Barr’s mission to keep Trump’s anti-immigration policies on point.

The coronavirus continues to erode China’s economy. Factories and retail stores didn’t open after the Chinese New Year, and many of them will remain closed until the virus runs its course. Mr. Trump told the press the virus doesn’t like warm weather, so he predicted the virus will disappear in April. But health officials claim the coronavirus will continue to spread despite President Xi’s claim his government has the virus under control.

Mr. Barr told the press Chinese military hackers are the cyber-villains that stole personal information from an Equifax server. More than four million Americans didn’t know it at the time, but Chinese hackers stole their personal information in 2017.

China denies Barr’s claim. The Chinese say they suffered hackers attack too. The tech war between China and the U.S. continues to erode any hope phase two of the trade agreement will end this year or in 2021.
