Whenever you purchase a laptop you will be provided with a pre-loaded OS like Windows 7, 8, 10. The first and the foremost thing you have to do is to create a backup in DVD’s as you have also paid for the genuine OS which come along. And then you can go ahead and install any another OS you want (Linux – Ubuntu) along with Windows.
Unknowingly if you format the windows genuine OS. You will lose the genuine OS and finally end up using a pirated one. I bought a Sony Laptop (SVE15117FN) recently and the first thing I did was backup. Here I jot down how to create a Windows OS backup in Sony Vaio or any laptops.
Create Windows OS Backup from Any New Laptops in DVD/USB
Requirements for OS Backup:
- Four 4.7 GB or Two 8 GB high quality gold coated DVD
- Sony Laptop or Any Windows Laptop
To begin the process click ‘ASSIST’ button at the top of the laptop keyboard and the Sony Vaio care appears at the right side of the screen.
Now click Advanced tools where the actual backup step begins. Click Restore and Recovery option.
Now click ‘Create Recovery Media’ option from Restore and recovery.
Once create recovery media is chosen a dialog box appears. Make sure that your charger is plugged in because it may take plenty of time for taking backup. Now in the dialog box choose optical disc. If you have 16 or 32 GB pen drive/flash drive then you can go along with it. But here I chose optical disc.
Now insert the DVD (4GB or 8GB) and click next to begin the process. Make sure that the system should remain free for 2 to 3 hours. If you do any work parallel then the process will be slow.
This is the very essential thing you should do first when you get your new laptop. And the above mentioned guide is very similar to all brand’s windows laptops, you can follow the same methods. I hope this tutorial very useful. If you have any questions, please do share in the comment section below.
