Many parents think that leaving a child in a hot car is ridiculous. They also think that it is something that they will never do. However, there is scientific research that explains why some parents leave their children in a hot car.
One dad is doing his part to make sure that children are not left in a hot car this summmer. Eric O’Connor live in Arizona and is the father of two children. He was inspired to set up and design an app after he read the statistics about heart car deaths. Eric stated that he was bothered by the hot car deaths, and they have to stop. Seven hundred and forty-nine children have died after being left in a hot car since 1998.
Eric believes that if the app saves one baby, then it will be worth it. The name of the app is Backseat. It will send a person reminders about their child being in the backseat. The parent will get reminders until they enter a password. The app will automatically be activated once you start driving.
The app will ask you if you have any kids in the car. If you select yes, then you will be sent a notification once you reach your destination to let you know that you have a child in the car. You will get the alerts even if your phone is on silent.
If you do not respond after getting several alerts, then the app will message the emergency contact provider. This app is free. You can download this app from Google Play or the Apple Store.
The Backseat has a Facebook and Instagram page. People are encouraged to send pictures of their children to Backseat’s social media pages. They are also encouraged to get in touch with Backseat for any comments or suggestions.
