Technology will only increase and advance in the future, but that doesn’t mean we should let our technological skills fall behind. There are tons of easy tech tips you’ll use every day that don’t require special skills or expensive devices.

1. Use Nothing but E-mail – Why?

We’ve all been there at one point or another when we have to send an important e-mail and can’t find the correct form of communication to be efficient. Nowadays, there are plenty of free e-mail programs out there, most open source, but don’t rely on them exclusively. The main reason for this is that if you send a message with a high priority or to a large group of people, your message may be flagged as spam.

2. Stay Informed – Why?

It’s essential to keep up with current events because our country goes through daily changes. Even if you don’t feel like keeping up with the news, there are still ways that you can and it doesn’t have to be a real pain. If you want to keep informed without sitting down and reading the newspaper or an online news publication, try talking with your family or friends.

3. Know Where They’re Coming From – Why?

There is never a wrong time to use important information about where your messages are coming from. Even if you don’t know someone’s name, it’s always nice to be able to tell whether or not a phone number is legit by checking with the phone company or other authority. Checking the zip code before calling a business that has been listed on 411 can also help get that extra bit of information with no questions asked.

4. Make Sure Their Name Is on the Caller ID

With the rise of cell phones and other forms of wireless technology, the number of people who have caller IDs is on the rise. Be sure that if someone is calling you on their cell phone, you can access their name through your phone. If you don’t have caller ID and they don’t have it either, it might be time to start questioning whether or not they are legitimate.

Please don’t use your hidden talent for technology to become a pest, but instead, utilize it to make a life for others easier. The world won’t stop relying on computers, tablets and other gadgets because you are skilled in their use.
