However, the tech giant Apple has designed a new battery for iPhone XS that is quite different from the iPhone X’s battery .The battery of iPhone X has two cells that are connected to each other while iPhone XS has single cell that is L-shaped. The battery of iPhone XS has the ability to store less power compared to iPhone. Was it not for one of the Apple’s innovation called the notch, the new single cell battery could be very delicate to any kind of stress.

Clapp wrote that Lithium- polymer battery cell has to be sealed properly at every corner to avoid one who is using the phone being uncomfortable due to thermal expansion. Kay continues to state that this is likely the reason why using this type of battery can be a great challenge. The model of iPhone XS battery has six sides unlike other models of iPhone that always has four sides. The internal corner of the battery has been notched to reduce the pressure in the corners.
The notching of the iPhone XS battery may help us to understand why the capacity of the battery has greatly reduced. The battery’s capacity has decreased from 2716 mAh, which is the battery capacity of iPhone X, to 2658 mAh of iPhone XS. This has really disappointed many iPhone users because it is expected that the battery capacity should increase and not decrease when improvements are made from time to time. Many hope that this trend will not continue at all. According to Clapp, time will be used to measure and tell about the performance of this devices putting in mind that these batteries are limited to only 500 charge cycles.
