Trick or treating can be a fun time for the kids. However, it can cause a lot of parents to feel uneasy. Fortunately, there is a new app that was released by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The app will give you a list of sex offenders in your neighborhood.
It will give a list of sex offenders within a five-mile radius. It even tells you the type of sex offender that lives in the area. Mike Wood works at the Pensacola Police Department. He is pleased with the app. He stated that parents will be able to use the app and determine what houses they should not go to.
Robert Toyens stated that technology is keeping up with the changing times. He stated that people could just roam the streets when he was growing up in the 80s. However, times are different. He also said that he will definitely be downloading the app.
Toni Brummet is a first-time mother. She stated that she will be sharing the app with her friends. Toni likes the fact that the app gives the offender’s name and then shows them a picture. Additionally, Toni said that this is the best time to release the app.
Officer Wood said that this app gives parents a new layer of protection. In the past, the officers told people to avoid going to the houses that did not have their porch light on. He said that these people obviously do not want people coming to their house on Halloween.
Officer said that this app will give parents an additional layer of security. If they see a house with a porch light on, then they will be able to see if that house has a sex offender. He believes that the information the app provides is priceless.
