Many people love their smartphones but get easily frustrated at how fast the memory can be taken up. There is good news for those that love using the Uber service but don’t have a lot of room on their phones to keep the app until the next use. The new Uber Lite app only uses up 5MB of data on your phone. It is a new compact version app of the service that the company created. It may not contain all of the bells and the whistles that the original app has yet has all of the main features needed to get a ride.

The Uber Lite application was designed to be a small and very responsive one. This was created to be used for those phone users who have limited storage space on their phones. While many of the newer technology in phones allows for much more downloading space, there are still many Uber users who have older Android phones or budget phones where space is limited. Uber wanted to be able to have options for all types of phone users who want to take advantage of their ride-sharing services.

Representatives for Uber have stated that this lite version of their application will be available on any type of Android phone and any phone service you may be connected to. It will only take up the equivalent of three pictures worth of space on your phone. The Uber Lite app will also come with the ability to offer in-application customer support. Additionally, you are still going to be able to use this lite app to share rides with family and friends.

One of the downsides to the features is that this new app will not rely on the GPS mapping system as much as the original version. This could potentially make getting a ride or finding your destination a little more difficult in situations where the driver is not familiar with the area. The redesigned interface will rely less on live access with maps and GPS systems.

The app is still being tested and will mostly likely be available for download in the United States by the end of 2018. It is currently being tested as part of a pilot program in India. This is where the app was created and launched last year as part of a plan to make the app more user-friendly for all Uber app users. It will be available in other areas later this year as well.
