Sprint has joined other top wireless phone companies with the aim to entice customers with additional access to streaming services.
One of the top three carriers added Hulu as part of its Unlimited Freedom plan, Tech Crunch reported. Sprint is one of three carriers giving customers popular channels or streaming services as part of their phone plans.
AT&T gives its customers a discount on a bundle for DirectTV streaming service for $10. It also now has free HBO on its best plan.
T-Mobile recently announced a deal that includes a Netflix subscription. The plan will pay up to the basic price per month for one of the top streaming services in the world. Netflix announced a multi-billion dollar marketing and production plan earlier this year for new original shows and movies.
These three offers are immediately attractive because they save money. Netflix and Hulu subscriptions range from $8 a month to $10 or more, with the latter temporarily lowering its price. HBO is available as an add-on through cable and Internet-based television companies and features hit shows “Game of Thrones” and “Westworld.”
This is in addition to smaller carriers such as Boost Mobile offering unlimited music streaming in the past. The Sprint plan also includes 1080p video streaming, Tech Crunch reported. Better video streaming also is a lure for carriers.
Higher-quality streaming will entice fans of Hulu and its programming. It cuts out the need for high-end televisions, especially when you’re away from home. It’s been reported that more than 80 percent of phone users stream video.
The only question now is if Sprint and other carriers’ networks can handle the traffic. This new deal with Hulu will put that to the test, as it will be a popular choice among consumers. Hulu also has ramped up its original content in the battle for streaming supremacy against Netflix and Amazon Video.
The Sprint-Hulu offer is now available. Tech Crunch reported Sprint is looking into adding an upgrade to Hulu’s TV service, which offers ala carte channels much like PlayStation Vue and Sling TV.
